Nordic Cinema Group is the leading cinema operator in the Nordic and Baltic regions, with more than 100 years of experience in managing and cultivating the cinema experience. The Group has 69 cinemas, 457 screens, and approx. 66,000 seats in almost 50 large and medium-sized cities.
Bridgepoint asked Pragma to undertake a review of the business to understand the strength of its current commercial offer in Sweden, Norway and Finland. In addition, we were asked to compare this offer with sites in more developed markets to understand what potential existed to develop this proposition further.
Site visits to over 25 cinemas across the three geographies to understand the commercial offer and score each location against Pragma’s bespoke Cinemafx. Pragma assessed the sites on key metrics including overall experience, current offer and execution, location and ability to enhance commercial revenue
Benchmarked the business against UK cinema chains, to understand the difference between NCG’s current performance and leading operators
Developed case studies on UK cinema chains to identify how NCG could develop its commercial proposition further. This work specifically focused on key trends impacting non-ticket revenue
We believe there is scope to further enrich the whole cinema experience, from the venue in itself, sound, seats and availability to food and drinks. We also see potential for NCG to accelerate its growth in the region and in adjacent countries at a time when the popularity of film and cinema remains abuoyant part of the entertainment industry.
Bridgepoint acquired the majority of Nordic Cinema Group (‘NCG’), from Ratos AB and Bonnier Holding in a transaction totalling SEK 4.7 billion.
